PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Calvary Institute Residency is a 12-month program designed to prepare church planters to start new, healthy local churches. Throughout the program, Residents will be immersed in the leadership culture of Calvary Church, participate in NAMB or IMB church planting training, and be networked with local pastors, church planters, and community leaders who will further aid them in developing a framework for healthy church planting.

The goal of the Residency Program is to offer church planters a runway in which they can develop their vision, values, philosophy, city-engagement strategy, and church planting team. As their sending church, Calvary will also provide resources and recruitment opportunities to help them start strong as they launch into the work of church planting.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Applicants should first and foremost possess a strong passion for reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a commitment to being sent to make disciples. They must have a vision for multiplying disciples and therefore multiplying churches. Building upon that foundation, residents will work full-time alongside Calvary staff and serve on Calvary’s X150 & Missions team. They’ll also have opportunities to observe church leadership, preach in church services, and connect with Calvary members.

Residents will:

  • Participate in Calvary staff meetings and retreats

  • Report to and meet weekly with Calvary’s Senior Associate Pastor, who will serve as their coach during the residency.

  • Attend Calvary’s Monthly Sending Pipeline meeting and serve as a Pipeline coach.

  • Complete any applicable NAMB and IMB training curricula.

  • Work through an assigned reading list of important books to help as you develop your own church planting framework

  • Network with Calvary staff and Tampa Bay area ministry partners who can further resource you and aid in developing a church planting strategy.

  • Join the family and participate in opportunities to engage with Calvary’s X150 National Church plants who are serving in 9 cities all around North America.

  • Be a part of the teaching team at Calvary and be given opportunities to preach and teach at Calvary during the residency.

  • Engage in and connect with leaders of various Florida Baptist, Send Florida, and Southern Baptist church planting initiatives.

  • Complete any applicable NAMB and IMB training modules
  • Work alongside church staff and leaders to identify needs and strategize, develop, and implement solutions
